About

We enjoy all types of fishing. From drop shotting for perch, lure fishing for pike, flattie bashing, wreck fishing, chasing exotic species overseas but there’s something special about fishing for sharks. There is the chance of connecting to a real monster!

The anticipation and excitement builds even before you can see the sea! The collecting of toys, uhm i mean tackle, gathering as much info as possible and searching for news on any exciting latest big fish catches all add to the build up of your planned trip.

When you finally get afloat with your mates, you’ve calmed down a bit and start relaxing and watching your float drift away from the boat, your imagination goes into overdrive – will that massive dream fish take your bait..?

Early days.

Being a retired toolmaker/design Engineer came in handy. With the help of my daughter who i can proudly say is a Dr of Engineering we created our company in spring 2015.

When I first started shark fishing the only available ready made Shark rigs to buy were cheap and bad quality or rigs that were overpriced.

This gave us the incentive to look around for the best components and make and test our own rigs.

Fish welfare is always on our mind so we decided to create a company selling quality rigs at an affordable price which could catch any big fish in British waters without failing and leaving our beloved sharks trailing rigs.

We believe our rigs are the best value for money in the market. Our products on this site have minimum postage costs and no nasty VAT surprise at checkout.

Our regular shark fishing Charter boat – Phatcat, skippered by Craig Deans (sadly retired in 2019) soon took an interest in our rigs and in no time we were supplying all his rigs for professional use on his boat. Our rigs have resulted in some spectacular captures! Thanks Craig!

Rob Rennie the skipper of Lady Jen is now our regular skipper out of Milford Haven, fishing way out in the Celtic deeps. A great guy and always up for a giggle with endless cups of tea and known as the the most generous skipper in the south west with the endless hot bacon, sausage and onion rolls! We book about a dozen trips with him now every year. Hoping to hook into a monster like the Mako he got to the boat in 2019. Maybe that great white shark will make an appearance soon!

We have now progressed to supplying rigs and gear to many charter boats as well as to the general public.

Tackle innovation

Being an Engineer i just can’t help tinkering with ideas to improve my catch rate. Give me a problem and i’ll strive to come up with a solution. Technology evolves, new materials and adhesives are constantly becoming available – why not use them to help us in our quest to catch that dream fish.

Over the years, I’ve seen some marvelous ideas to use as a float. From a big heavy net float to balloon clips that slip up the line. The early days saw us using a balloon as a float tied directly to the mainline. Not the best as sometimes it would get stuck in the top eye. The last thing you want to worry about is someone messing about with your line risking a slack line with a big fish on! Most shark anglers use a bottle as a float with a stop knot on the mainline. Still not the best, messing around with a stop knot to change the depth is a pain and the bottle implodes with depth pressure if a big fish dives deep.

At first I came up with a clip that could be attached to any bottle top. The idea was to make sure the float was running free on the mainline when a take came. The idea progressed to what we have now. A light, anti tangle, highly visable float that runs free on the mainline when a take occurs. No worrying about your float when you’re playing that big fish. They’ve turned out to be really popular, not just for sharking but for the Halibut fanatics in Norway and pike and catfish chasers.

We’ve recentley added fluorocarbon leaders and livebait/chunking rigs for you to purchase. We’ve tested all our rigs to destruction, including fluoro compared to mono. Please don’t use Mono! We know it’s much cheaper but you have more chance of losing your monster if you use it.
